Questions we get asked a lot

Is NestMate free to use? ▾

Yes — creating a profile and browsing matches is completely free. We offer premium subscription tiers (NestMate Plus and Pro) for unlimited matching, rent splitting tools, and legal agreement templates. Pricing will be announced at launch.

When exactly will NestMate launch? ▾

We are targeting a public launch by the end of June 2026, in time for the peak UK student housing season in September 2026. Waitlist members will get early access ahead of the general public.

Which cities will be available at launch? ▾

Our initial launch covers London, Manchester, Bristol, and Edinburgh. We will expand to Birmingham, Leeds, and Newcastle shortly after, followed by European cities (Berlin, Amsterdam) in early 2027.

How does the NeighbourScore™ work? ▾

NeighbourScore™ is our compatibility algorithm that scores potential housemate matches across six dimensions: budget overlap (25%), sleep schedule (20%), social preferences (20%), cleanliness standards (15%), work schedule (10%), and personality fit (10%). Every score comes with a full breakdown so you can see exactly why someone is or isn't a strong match.

Is my data safe? ▾

Absolutely. NestMate is built with GDPR compliance from the ground up. All personal data is encrypted at rest and in transit. You have full control over your profile — you can export, edit, or delete your data at any time. We never sell your data to third parties.

Can universities partner with NestMate? ▾

Yes — we are actively onboarding university partners ahead of launch. If you work in student accommodation or housing services, please contact us at partnerships@nestmate.co.uk to discuss a founding partnership.

What if I'm already searching and just need a flatmate quickly? ▾

NestMate works for that too. You can set your move-in date and filter matches who are ready to move in the same timeframe. You don't have to wait until you have a full group to start matching.
